Jody Sperling/Time Lapse Dance at Alvin Ailey Next Week

In 2006, I wrote a multimedia guide to modern dance pioneer Loie Fuller and interviewed Jody Sperling about her choreography that reimagines these colorful, and, for the era, hi-tech performances.

I'll be writing more about Loie Fuller and Jody Sperling in the context of the pre-cinama technology series I've been writing for the past two weeks. I'll be focusing specifically on magic lanterns and how they were used in performances.

But for now, I just wanted to share information about Jody Sperling and her Time Lapse Dance company's performances at the Alvin Ailey theater (55th street and 9th avenue) starting next week. (Here are the performance details).

"Ghosts" will premiere next week:

And the New York premiere of "Ballet of Light" will be performed as well:

The show was fantastic! Jody + co really utilized all these elements so vividly during the performance of the work. There was also live music which really added to the event.

I'll definitely be asking her to post some of that music!
