REVIEW OF JUSTE LOUNGE IN BETHESDA

Grand Opening of Juste Lounge

I went to the grand opening of Juste Lounge which used to be Thyme Out in Bethesda.
When I first went to the Thyme Out opening I was not happy but I knew my girl Eileen Torres would make the adjustments that needed to be made and I just had to be patient. We all have been in a bad mood around here after Yuca shut down the Latin Night and we really did not have a place that we felt comfortable to go out on Saturdays. Well Eileen has made the adjustments and then some. If you remember I was not happy when it was Thyme Out. The dance floor was very sticky and very small , The place was dark and again it seemed like I was at another place where they wanted to put salseros in a basment type atmosphere, I hated that about VIP THE LIGHTS WERE TOO DARK. I think people do not realize when you are dancing with some one you use a lot of hand signals but how can you see the signals if it seems like you are in a dark cave.where yo cant see a thing. Not only that how can I steal some one’s moves if I can barely see.

Well they have a brand new larger wood floor , The lights have brightened a bit , and hey have lovely leather couches spread out all around the room They have also added a stage for live music and Eileen is making sure the majority of music played is salsa , mambo and Cha Cha Cha , she is not like StuckOnSalsa who will not allow any merengue or Bachata to be played at their party, She will play a couple of merengues each set .

The Juste Lounge is now one of the hottest spots in the area in the area for salsa , they have good service, friendly staff, great parking and a owner who listens to what Eileen tells him . The ambiance is awesome and I think it is going to be a great success.

The grand opening had a great turnout as DJ Tony , DJ Bruno, and DJ Ricardo taking turns playing he danced music all night long.

Oh by the way Juste Lounge will be the third leg of the Fall Salsa Crawl
( A three night salsa party )sponsored by StuckOnSalsa , Latin Vip and Eileen Torres on Saturday October 15, 2005 stay tuned for more details for Fall Salsa Crawl Updates log on to http://STUCKONSALSA.COM

Ramiro has been taking a break since leaving Yuca and now he is back better than ever and so is Yuca which will now be called Escape. Georeg Mason Salsa class

Last night we had our biggest class ever at George Mason. There were over 60 students in the class and every one picked up the combinations and shines. The class is growing and next week on October 1, 2005 Azucar Geore Mason's salsa club will be having a big party with Dj Andy , performances by ClaveKazi and Azucar Moreno. I was talkimg to Sam Rodriguez last night at Zanzibar and he seems to think Geore Mason is the only area University that has a Salsa Club. Hmmm I will have to investigate. I am having a great time teaching and meeting all the new students

Tribute to the Choreographers of Washington DC at Zanzibar

It was great to see Shaka, Psyon and Ricardo get honored last night for their Choreography skills last night at Zanzibar. Psyon, Shaka and myself all came up on the salsa circuit together and Ricardo and Elba gave me my first salsa lesson. These guys have all grown into being forces in the salsa community. Ricardo and Elba had the first salsa group in DC that I first saw named DC Salseros who which Psyon , Shaka and Cecilia Villalobos who was also honored last night, you go girl, were one time members along with Joel Massicot who now lives in Boston but now travels all over the world teaching salsa.

Congratulations guys and keep up the good work

There will be photo galleries of the event posted on http://stuckonsalsa.com and /photos

First time that I have not gone salsa dancing on a Saturday since I can remember

I did not go salsa dancing on Saturday night. I was just tired and just wanted to get some rest. It felt good , I might have to try it more often,I can honestly say in 11 years there has not been over 3 Saturdays that I have not gone out salsa dancing. I know Eileen had a good party and Mr. Mambo had a good party but I had a great time just sleeping. I will not be a home this Saturday though because I will be eaching a on 2 class at Thyme out in Bethesda for Eileen from 9pm until 10pm .

Largest salsa class I have ever seen

I went to the Kennedy center the other night on Friday to see Son de Aqi and to hang out with Eileen Torres. I have been to her events there before and the class has always been well attended. I have gone to Major Salsa Congresses and have seen 300 to 400 people taking classes with Frankie Martinez or Eddie Torres but I have never seen over 1,00o people take a salsa class . Eileen did a tremendous job of working with such a large crowd and she had most of them trying to follow her as she taught the basic mambo steps. The crowd had a ball and it was fantastic to see such a large population of people who I had never seen before show some interest in Salsa. The classes were great, Son DE Aqui was great although some selections went past 10 minutes, which to me is too long , but I think I just need to get in band dancing shape and enjoy the live music and quit complaing about how the bands play their songs too long? If I get tired I can always stop , there I go thinking the salsa bands songs are all about me which they are not they are all about the about the band.

Salsa Network Scholarship Fundraiser

I am very excited about this Sunday as I have been telling everyone to come and party and donate to the Scholaship fund that the Salsa Network has set up. Six students will receive $500.00 scholarships to help towards their expenses this semester. There is a big buzz about this event as Latin Soul and various Djs in the area donate their time for a good cause. I hope to see a lot of people there in the dance floor.

Hurricane Fundraiser Relief at Club Five

Shout outs to Shirley Basurto for organizing the Event at Club Five last night. The event was well attended and I had a great time . So much for the lull in DC that I was talking about the other day. Dj Ricardo fron Lucky Bar and Dj Andy did a great job of keeping people on the dance floors. There were a lot of people who came out that were very good dancers and that made me me happy. Stracy Diaz and Orlando Machuca taught a Hot Mambo class to start things off right. I like Club Five because of the wood floor and the variety of the crowd. They play hip hop and reggaeton also but that is late in the night , which leaves plenty of tiime for the purist salseros to get their salsa groove on. Also they have 1 dollar drinks from 9:30 pm until 10:30pm . That is the night where I act like I am a big baller and offer to buy people drinks. lol

Teaching at George Mason University

I am having a ball teaching at George Mason University. The students are very quick learners and they are absorbing salsa moves like sponges. They are also a very friendly bunch. This might be one of the best classes that I have had. The average attendance for the first two weeks has been a little over 50 students per class. It has been working out where almost all the ladies have partners which is rare. The Johnson Dance center is a first class dance studio with great wood floors and large mirrors . There is a big salsa dance planned at the end of the month and I am sure these students will be ready to show off all their moves that they learned in the classes. The Geore Mason students have become my new salsa clique.
