The dancing was great but in this case the reasons for you to go these videos are to hear the hot cuts that were played at the party that night, Lets go the Salsa video tape!

Wow What a party!

The StuckOnSalsa Two year anniversary in my opinion was definitely the best party we have ever had. It had every thing, great music, great dancers, great venue, great food, free parking, great dance floor. What more can I say? The Djs Jose Rodriguez, DJ Elvira and DJ andy were incredible that night. The sound system was perfect and Sam Rodriguez even brought some congas and clave sticks. The place was rocking. If we never have parties any more we could say we went out with a bang

Chemistry between the DJS

Dj Elvira , Dj Andy and DJ Jose Rodriguez are all stars in the salsa world in their own right. But together they become a salsero's fantasy. Three different styles but all three will have you dancing all night long.
One of the reasons these three DJs are very popular besides that they all play hot dance music is they are all very nice people.

Their fans like their music and they like the person as well. All three Djs are very good dancers, now wether that helps them in a DJ Booth can be discussed at a later time. All three like to have a good time , none of the three are stuck up. The one thing that stands out about all of them is you never hear any of them talk a lot of smack on the microphone. Jose will make an announcement and give a shout to his people every now and then but he does not take all night telling people on the mic he is DJ Jose Rodriguez he knows everyone in the place knows who he is just by his music. I have yet to hear DJ Elvira say anthing on the microphone yet and a couple of times you will hear DJ Andy say Earl Rush is in the house beacuse we use to hang out in Chelsea's together and I was one of his boys other than that I never hear Andy say anything either.

To get back to what this blurb is supposed to be about the chemistry between these three is great . Last year they were all in the booth together and they took turns rocking the house at the one year anniversary.

The bottom line is game respects game and all three of these DJs have game and respect each other so I guess the answer is the chemistry is great between the three

Divinos last night

I went to Divinos last night and as promied DJ Bruno and DJ MIke Morales provided hot dance music all night long. I had on a I was at the 2 year StuckOnSalsa Anniversary t shirt and a lot of people were asking me did I have one for them. I have some that I will be giving away tonight at the SOS event.

I am so glad this day is finally here. Kelvin and I have been working like crazy to set this big event up. The deadline for registering for the All-Star Salsa cruise was yesterday. So we can get started on planning for next year's Cruise.

I saw Rick Greenfield last night at Divino's. Rick is Kelvin's best friend and one of my best friends and alsi is the STuckOnsalsa correspondent in Atlanta . His lady Natalie Herrod came up for the party also and they felt good to get awy from the Atlanta scene for a minute and dance with different salseros and hear new music. DC's stable of DJs clave flor clave can hang with any city in the world. So any hard core salsero from out of town always loobes cominng here listenig to the music.

I wonder did Doug Fox go out dancing last night? That guy is on a mission!

Interesting Beginner Class last night at Gold's Gym

I had a very interesting class at Gold's Gym last night. It consisted of 2 guys and 6 women. Doug Fox was one of the two guys in the class. He is on a mission to learn how to dance salsa and I think it was his fourth class in 4 nights in a row. He is improving rapidly on learning how to find the 1 in the song. Earlier in the the day we had a music listening class and he was able to dertimine where the 1 was in all the songs except for 1 house music song. The ladies in the class I think were ther just to be good sports because I recruited them when they left the before mine. It was good practice for the two guys because they each got to practice with 6 differnt ladies and practice is always good. I have one lady whose first class was on Sunday and she picked up everything in one class, the amazing thing about this was it was an intermediate class. I think she was just determined to pay attention and learn.

StuckOnSalsa awards are finally here

Last Year's Anniversary party and awards show turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. Over 450 people came to Fanaticos as DJ Elvira and DJ Jose Rodriguez had the place jumping all night long. This year with more categories and more award winners we are expecting an even bigger turnout. I have already confirmed that pepole from Los Angeles, Chicago , North Carolina, Va , Baltimore,Atlanta, New Jersey, New York, Philly ,Boston and of course DC wil be coming to the Anniversary salsa celebration. I have also think that there might be some un official shine offs between Jimmy Rumba from Atlanta. Betto Herrera from North Carolina Ronald Rios from Washingotn, Dc Orlando Machuca, Shaka Brown if he is in town and myself. It looks like it is going to be an interesting weekend.

I can't beleive it's been two years

I cant beleive it's been two years already since StuckOnSalsa has been in existence. It seems jus like yesterday when we first started at Maxim's. We have been on one heck of a ride since then. This two year anniversary will probably turn out to be our best event yet. Tickets sales are going strong and everyone cant wait to dance this Saturday. A lot of people are excited about the awards show also. I am getting ready for South Beach tonight in Bethesda and ClubFive in DC . My class last night at George Mason had a great turnout for the beginners and intermediate classes.By the time I got to Zanzibar the crowd had died down . I was tired any way. I am always wondering why the majority of people who dance, dance off beat. I am going to do more investigating and find out why. I think people are going to be very happy with the facilities where the SOS two year anniversary will be held. Great dance floor, Great location and the most imoportant thing for all salseros FREE Parking

Wednesday morning July 14, 2005

I spoke with Doug Fox this morning he said he might go over to Baltimore and check out Susan Leiter's class and open dance party at Club Uno. I will be doing a special beginner and intermediate salsa on1 workshop at George Mason University this evening from 8pm until 10pm . I will then go to Zanzibar and promote the StuckOnSalsa 2 year anniversary. Hopefully I can get some of the Students at George Mason to come to the party. It would be a great experience for them to see salseros from all over the country in one room doing their thing.
I have to somehow go to Club Five and South Beach tomorrow to promote the party. I definitely have to hit Divinos on Friday because with DJ Bruno and DJ Mike Morales playing more than likely a lot of the hardcore salseros will be there and we difinitely want then to know about the part . Heck we really want to let any one and every one to know about the party.

People from all over the country

I did a roll call this morning of who was coming to the StuckOnsalsa two year anniversary and so far the cities and states that will be represented at the Anniversary celebration are Los Angeles, Atlanta, Raleigh and Charlotte North Carolina, Va Beach, Richmond, Newport News,Chicago, New Jersey, Philadelphia , New York,Boston and Miami.

Old fashion StuckOnsalsa photo gallery

There was a time before smugmug.com and www.greatdance.com when SOS would have there own little photo gallery that was on their site and was not farmed out to some smancy fancy photo gallery services.
For the rest of the week leading up to the two year anniversary we will have old fashion SOS photo galleries

Tuesday June 12, 2005

I have not had to spend too much time the last week getting ready for the StuckOnsalsa Two year anniversary party and awards show. Kelvin and I have had everything straight for a while now, I for one will be very glad when this weekend is over. It's been a hell of a ride the past year and I am tired. We have been having events all year long. after this week I will be able to get ready for the Puerto Rico , Miami and New York Salsa Congresses . The party is on Saturday July 16, 2005 and Friday is the last day for someone to register for the cruise. So I will not have to worry about that anymore. Worked all day and then went to the Barking Dog where Mike Morales is always up there playing some slammin salsa . DJ Bruno celebrated his birthday there last night. Ty Sims brought a cake and Michelle Reyes had two cakes there for DJ Bruno also. DJ Bruno and DJ Mike EL Sonero Morales will be playing together this Friday night at Divinos . This is one you do not want to miss. The Barking Dog had a great crowd last night and the energy was high throughout the night. I took some photos that I will be uploading in a few hours

Posted by Earl Rush at 02:03 AM - Permalink | Comments (0)

Beginning of the week

Monday July 11, 2005 I worked all day, spoke with Doug Fox about some ways to shoot salsamentarty footage at the StuckOnsalsa two year anniversary party. I talked to Kelvin about 10 times in reference to the cruise which by the way is basically sold out and then went to the Clarendon Grill . Saw my old Rhonda Rose who I used to teach latin aerobics with in Silver Spring. She has been over in Thailand. The Clarendon Grillwas packed last night. It was Bruno's birthday at midnight. And he appointed me to be his designated dancer for his birthday dance. I was honored to be asked to fill the job. I was going to Lucky Bar to promote SoS Two year anniversary but I am too old to be waiting in a line at 1am at night. So i just went home. home to think of what new to put on www.stuckonsalsa.com.

Weekend wrap up

I went down to Richmond to cover the Richmnd Festival with Doug Fox and Kelvin Harris for the GreatDance/StuckOnsalsa newslettergreatdance.com/salsa This was Richmond's First salsa Festival at the new Convention Center. Steve Greene was one of the producers of the event. I have known him for a very long time and he is a mover and a shaker on the Richmond scene. The Richmond Festival was a blast and we were able to get Eileen Torres to interview the great band Conjuncto Imagem. DC was represented very well by Azucar Moreno composed of Janice Woodward and Kimberly Yates along with PsyonMauricio and Kara Cheatham.

Saturday night I went to Keith Givens Salsa night at Glen Echo. It was a very interesting crowd mmostly of people I had never seen before which is always a good thing. Keth did a great job teaching the classes and putting on a great party.

Worked wth Doug Fox on Sunday morning working with him hearing the 1 in the song. He has improved a lot since I stared working with him.

I have let him to listen to all types of music . just last week I had him listening to Reasonable Doubts Jay -Z 's first album. He has his easiest time identifying the 1 in R and B music.

Doug stayed for my class on Sunday and did great . He is progressing every day . Went home and slept all day long

Why The Women's Club of Bethesda

WHY THE WOMEN'S CLUB IN BETHESDA?

This is probably the easiest question asked me this year?

This place basically has it all . It is centrally located,it has a very spacious hardwood dance floor which is definitely a must for all the dancing that is going to be taking place that night. With the DJs that we have it would not be fair to our supporters to put the wear and tear on their bodies by dancing to another surface besides wood all night long and trust me you will be dancing ALL NIGHT LONG to DJ Andy , DJ Elvira and DJ Andy. It has great ambiance., a stage for our awards show, seating , and the most important thing that every one needs and has to have FREE PARKING LOT and PLENTY OF FREE STREET PARKING.

We felt we needed a special place to celebrate a special time with our special friends and supporters.

7 nights a week !!

You can literally go out salsa dancing 7 nights a week here in the DC Metropolitan area. I am not kiding. Where does DC rank as far as markets? I cannot say for sure but I can tell you there are a lot of markets that are not able to make the 7 days a week statement. There is also not a lot of cities that can say they have a lot of dancers who dance equally well on1 or on2 like we have in DC for both salseras and salseros.

GoGo Earl's review of South Beach 4 out of 5 shines

For photos of the Grand Opening of South Beach log on to /photos and http://stuckonsalsa.com

I thought that the South Beach Opening went very well. They had a nice wood floor to dance on and the music provided by Mike "El Sonero" was hot. They covered all bases by providing a separate floor for hip hop, merengue, reggaeton and some more music. The drinks were good and reasonably priced . the bartenders were very friendly and finding a space to park for free was not a problem. A lot of people were complaining about the air conditoner and how hot it was , but what do people expect when you have a bunch of people in a room having a great time and dancing all night, Hello it's summer time lots of people dancing in a room together is going to cause some considerable heat.Give me a break.!The crowd thet attended were very dancer friendly and did not have any hangups about what beat you broke on, they were there to dance and have fun. All in all I thought South Beach was great and if you are in the Bethesda area on a Thursday night I would reccomend that you definitely check it out.

The coolest place to be in DC on a hot Friday 4th of July weekend right after work is H20's Internatonal Happy hour on the Waterfront

H20's International happy Hour has hooked up with the Latin Happy hour and it goes a little something like this. You stiill can get your salsa groove on from 5pm until 9pm and the buffet and the wine and the salsa lessons, but now you don't have to wait until 9pm for the barbeque they will be having the grills and great frozen drinks out on the deck at the internaional happy hour starting at 5pm where they will be playing reggae., reggaeton, Soca , merengue along with other types of international music.

That adds up to 2 places to dance to eat, drink and to mingle right after work.

Still cannot get there until after 9pm? E mail Earl Rush at gogoearl@aol.com to get on guest list which includes free admission and a open bar wristband good for 9pm until 11pm.
