About Notes On A Vanguard

In 2002, a number of choreographers and artists formed Chez Bushwick under the direction of Jonah Bokaer. Through strategies of collaboration, a series of public programs were developed that became emblematic of a new way of work in dance and performance in New York City, and particularly Brooklyn. The purpose of "Notes On A Vanguard" is to use the ongoing work of Chez Bushwick as a springboard for deeper conversation about the present state of dance and performance. Diverse perspectives and freedom of speech is encouraged.
