Blogging On Great Dance
Are you a choreographer, dancer or dance enthusiast who is interested in having your own blog on Great Dance?
We are in search of dance-makers (choreographers, dancers and dance companies) and others who are passionate about dance and who want to share their enthusiasm, creativity and insights with dancers, dance-goers and newcomers to dance.
We are looking for dance bloggers who are committed to creating high-quality content and who want to develop active, online communities. We are especially interested in working with choreographers and dancers who want to share their on-going work, rehearsals, performances and educational programs in video and picture formats.
Dance Types and Genres
In terms of the types of dance represented on Great Dance, there is considerable flexibility and no set rules about what genres of dance we include and don't include. But as a general guideline, our focus is primarily on concert dance and less on social and competitive dancing. So we will have blogs about modern/contemporary, improvisation, ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap and different styles of world dance. But at the same time, there are many dance forms that are social in nature but are also performed on stage. So we keep an open mind and consider whether the emphasis and content of a new blog fits into the overall approach of Great Dance.
Types of BloggingThere are three main types of dance blogging:
1)
On-going: Dance bloggers who intend to produce their blog on an on-going basis would have a permanent blog that is regularly updated.
2)
Short-term: Some dance bloggers may prefer to blog during, say, the two months prior to a performance and one month after a performance. In such instances, this dance blog would be of limited duration with fixed beginning and end dates.
3)
Micro-blogging: Some dancers have little time to spare and need an approach to blogging that is quick and convenient. This is where micro-blogging comes into the picture. Micro-blogging is short-form in nature and usually consists of brief posts and may also include pictures and videos. This type of blogging can be done while using a desktop computer, or with wireless devices such as mobile phones with camera or video recording attachments.
What We Offer Dance BloggersFor dancers we invite to join Great Dance, we provide the following services:

New Revenue Streams
Over time, the goal for Great Dance is to partner with our dance bloggers to create new revenue streams. While we cannot make financial promises or commitments of any type at this point, we are working toward creating two main sources of income for dancers:
1) A split of the advertising and sponsorship revenue generated by your blog and/or videos.
2) Contributed income in the form of individual and corporate donations, and the implementation of new approaches to commissioning dances.
