Introduction...

Earl Rush, a Washington, DC native, is founder and president of StuckOnSalsa, which offers salsa dance instruction and event promotion services.

One night in 1995 Earl realized that he was too old to still be going to Hip Hop clubs. The next day while walking down the street he saw a sign for free Salsa classes. He went into the club and never turned back. He instantly fell in love with Salsa. He loved the people, the environment, the dancing and the music. He also liked the fact that Salsa brought together people from diverse walks of life.

Four years after stumbling across the sign for free dance classes, he was asked by Eileen Torres to assist her in teaching Salsa. Eileen took him under her wing and Earl has been teaching every since. In 2004 Earl was honored at the 4th Annual Men in Salsa Tribute for his contributions to the Salsa community.

Earl Rush founded the StuckOnSalsa website in the summer of 2003. His original goal was to have a place where everyone could get information about the parties he and partner Kelvin Harris were giving. But the website became something else altogether. Now StuckOnSalsa is the place where everyone goes to get the 411 on salsa happenings in the Washington DC area, as well as other cities.

Dance Instruction...

Earl teaches with Maribel Soto and offers private and group nightclub Salsa and Mambo as well as Cha Cha and Salsa Aerobics to beginning through advanced students.

Big on continuing education, he has been on the Salsa congress circuit for the last four years traveling to major Salsa congresses, taking master workshops with the world's best Salsa instructors and staying up to date on the latest Salsa moves for his students. Earl participates in at least four Salsa congresses a year.

He has taken master workshops from Eddie Torres, Sean Stylist, Louis and Joby Vasquez, Frankie Martinez, Francisco Vasquez, Ismael Otero, Cuban Pete, Stacey Lopez, Felipe Polanco, the Cobo brothers, Juan Calderon, Eileen Torres, Dee Scott, Shaka Brown, Piero Gonzalez, Jimmy Rivas and many other great instructors.

He has been teaching salsa for six years. He has taught at all the top night clubs in the area, fitness centers, high schools and other venues. In addition to his private and group classes, he also prepares couples for wedding dances, teaches at in-home private parties and special events, and performs and teaches at corporate functions.

Event Promotion...

Tired of going up the I-95 corridor to New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia to party on the weekends, Earl and his partner Kelvin Harris decided that they were going to make something happen in the DC area to avoid the constant travel and expense.

Their first venture at Maxim's in June 2003 lasted a whole four weeks. Realizing that weekly events can quick get old, they decided to experiment with a once a month themed party. With that in mind, they launched their first monthly Salsa party in January 2004 titled "A One Night Affair." Despite a wind-chill factor of minus five degrees this Salsa party was an instant hit attracting 300 people the first night.

Today StuckOnSalsa hosts a weekly happy hour at H2O on Fridays and a twice a month Sunday Social at the Music Box in Arlington. StuckOnSalsa is now getting ready for the grand opening of its once a month Latin Night Project at Club Mate, a new Baltimore Club, which will take place the third Saturday of every month.

StuckOnSalsa is hosting its first Salsa cruise November 11-14, 2005 that will leave from Miami and head to the Bahamas . Some of the world's best Salsa performers and instructors will be giving workshops and performances. 400 people have already signed-up. For more information about the cruise, log-on to http://www.allstarsalsacruise.com.
