Have Your Internet Dance Videos Helped You?

By Doug Fox

Many dancers and dance companies are putting videos of their dance on the Internet. Many on YouTube and other video hosting sites.

How has putting your dance videos on the Internet helped you? Do you have tips and suggestions for the best way to use your videos as marketing tools for either yourself personally or for your dance company?

Hi Doug~

Let me tell you how my internet dance videos has helped little ole' me!

In June of this year I put up a youtube vlogging channel because I was isolated and bored, and feeling the need to be creative; also to simply 'share myself with the world', come what may.

I have to tell you that I had no idea how much exposure, fans, friends and potential business partners one little youtube channel can bring a person!

Most recently, I was offered a possible Reality Show type of program from the CEO and Founder of a Jerusalem based digital broadcasting network. When at first I rcvd his offer, I took it with a grain of salt, thinking he was just some clever stalker trying to get at me; posing as a producer. Not so! In fact, his company is going to purchase over $4000.00 dollars of video camera equipt. and have it shipped to me! Wow! This news came the day you posted this blog entry.

He said for me to continue making my vlogs and dance videos while he works on his plan and ideas for our reality show collaboration.

To me, this is truly astounding! And too, I have had numerous offers for dance gigs from fans around the world. Again, all as a result of my little youtube channel.

So yes, putting my dance videos and vlogs 'out there' for all the world to see, come what may, has proved to be the number one way for me to market myself and my dreams!

Now I find myself encouraging my dancer friends and dance professors at school, to utilize youtube as a virtual reality type of resume for their work. As I continue to gain fame and popularity, with offers like the above mentioned, they are seeing the validity and promise of using this medium for the promotion of themselves and thier work. Halleluyah!

FYI FOR DANCERS/CHOREOGRAPHERS/DANCE COMPANIES: When you set up a youtube channel for dance, under the "PERFORMER INFO", in the "CHANNEL SETTINGS" panel, set your channel up as a DIRECTOR channel, and select the style as "DANCE". My channel is a GURU channel, and the style is Beauty because I do a lot of modeling of pretty outfits, in addition to dance.

In my experience, youtube is number one for exposure! You'll find yourself inundated with new friends and fans from all over the world! The possibilities are endless; the sky is the limit!

Cheers!
shoshi
